For any of you who have seen the movie Sideways, you know very well that it tainted our idea of Merlot and had a huge impact on both Merlot and Pinot Noir sales. This was unfortunate, since Merlot is a great grape and pairs well with so many foods. It's not a wine to scoff at, by any means.
Lately I've been venturing back to Merlot, because I too was guilty of neglecting this wine for a few years.
This bottle has quickly become my favorite. Big ripe fruit, long finish, bold and very well balanced. Try this with barbecue, vegetarian food, or even a big hunk of cheese with crackers. It's divine.
